Sarah Oostendorp is a contemporary emerging artist from Southland, Aotearoa New Zealand, now based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland. Her practice explores the meditative and psychological states that arise through the act of making, particularly during the repetitive, labour-intensive process of creating circular mark-making. Working mainly with paint, Oostendorp’s drawings are both methodical and intuitive offering a quiet tension between control and surrender. Through repetition and rhythm, her work becomes a visual trace of time, presence, and process.
